Our mission at Downes Elementary School, an innovative and nurturing community, is to empower and challenge our children to achieve academic excellence and become independent learners by developing their social/emotional, creative, physical, and intellectual talents.
The digital library provides valuable resources for all members of the school community, including staff, parents, and students. Our goal is to prepare our children for the future by providing them with skills to live in a society which relies heavily on technology.
We strive to integrate technology into all areas of the curriculum. We recognize its usefulness in differentiating instruction, as well as developing life-long learners.

Destiny is a totally web-based school library system that students and parents can access from any computer. Students, working through their librarian, can request a book from any library in the Christina School District and have it delivered to their school.

The Sora app provides a modern student reading experience. It empowers students to discover and enjoy ebooks and audiobooks, for both leisure and class-assigned reading.

Good researchers need a variety of sources to do the best job possible. Not all resources are appropriate for every task. That is why there are so many choices out there. The purpose of this web page is to provide some of the best for student use. Some sources are general and can be used in most cases. Other sources are VERY specific and can only be used when researching one particular topic. Please take the time to make sure that you have chosen wisely.
