Counselor's Corner

Dear Downes Parents and Families,

My name is Asha Fersner, and I am the School Counselor at Downes Elementary. In my role, I am dedicated to supporting the academic, social/emotional, and career development of all students. I offer a range of services to students, parents, and families, including:

•     Short-Term Individual Counseling
•     Short-Term Group Counseling
•     Classroom Lessons on Social and Emotional Learning (Second Step Lessons)
•     Consultation
•     Conflict Mediation
•     Referrals and Resources

Students can be referred for counseling support by staff or parents. Students (Grades 3-5) can also refer to themselves using the self-referral form. Parent permission is required for short-term individual or group counseling. 

I wear many "hats" as a school counselor. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.  I always try to get back to you as soon as possible, but please allow 24 hours for responses.  I am looking forward to a great school year with you and your students!
